DESTINATION INFORMATION
Parga, one of the most picturesque villages in Greece, lies on the mountainous west coast of mainland Greece, in the province of Epirus. Bathed in history, it still retains remnants of its medieval past. The clustered houses climb steeply from the harbour to be topped by the remains of the Venetian castle. During the day it is front is a hive of activity with dozens of small boats and water taxis jostling for a berth against the jetty. They offer non-stop trips to the fabulous beaches of Valtos and Lichnos. Valtos Bay can also be reached on foot by walking up to the castle and down the other side - excellent cardio for the fit! There are lots of other bays too which can be reached by boat or you can take a trip along the Acheron River, traditionally the entrance to Hades. On the way back you call at a a splendid grotto in the sheer cliffs, before relaxing with a barbecue on a deserted beach. There are also excellent excursions to Paxos and Antipaxos. On the mainland the old city of Ioanina and Dodoni with its ancient theatre and temple dedicated to Zeus are both definitely worth visiting. Parga is great fun for all ages with a town beach plus endless tavernas, kafenions, bars and boutiques along the waterfront. In the early evening Parga really comes alive with everyone, from the Greeks to the visitors, promenading along the waterfront. Parga is a great place to “people watch!’

The Acropol was a find when we were wondering around Parga and got lost in its maze of narrow streets. It mixes modern amenities and facilities with traditional charm, comfort and situated in the quitier area of the old town. A wonderful base to relax and enjoy the wonderful service and care from the Zigouris family.
