Villas in Symi
When you arrive on Symi you feel as though you have been taken back in time; the traditional, neoclassical villas, the limited amount of cars you will see, the warm, friendly locals or is it the picture post card view you get everywhere you look. The main area is Gialos (main harbour) with its harbourside full of Venetian mansions and villas surrounded by a fine selection of shops, restaurants and of course the Nautical Museum. The upper area of Chorio is the older part of the village which is reached by the Kali Strata and is a maze of archways, alleys with a small selection of tavernas and shops hidden away in the village square. The area east of Gialos leads you to the small fishing village of Pedi Beach which is around a ten minute stroll from Chorio. Here you can relax on one of the sunbeds or take some shade under one of the many tamarisk trees; or enjoy one of the three tavernas waiting to serve you.
Of course there are many other coves to reach from Gialos and an exciting water boat taxi will take you there. As Symi is so pretty there are numerous day trippers which normally arrive at 11 am but then leave by mid-afternoon. But during this time you will be on a beach or enjoying some Greek cuisine and a cold Restina!
