The sheltered horseshoe bay is set against the dramatic back drop of the Tramuntana mountain range with a selection of boutique hotel, apartments and family villas nestled in between. Originally a fishing village, Puerto Pollensa has retained its charm and the time old tradition of the evening ‘paseo’, or stroll. On warm balmy evenings visitors and locals, wander past the pavement cafes and restaurants along the famous shaded, elegant pedestrianised Pine Walk. The Church Square has an abundance of good restaurants, the church with its chiming bells overlooks the square garden area, where weekly Wednesday markets are held.
The old inland town of Pollensa should not be missed with Boutique hotels, quaint old buildings and lots of interesting restaurants, and of course the Sunday market. There is a golf course just outside Pollensa old town (9.holes) and another spectacular one, at nearby Alcudia, Alcanada (18.holes) plus several others in the south of the island. Both courses have magnificent situations and there facilities are open to visitors and non playing guests.
